Abstract
Indian English fiction has undergone remarkable transformation in the postcolonial and globalized era. Among contemporary Indian novelists, Amitav Ghosh and Aravind Adiga occupy significant positions because of their unique narrative styles, linguistic experimentation, and representation of Indian society. The present research paper attempts a comparative stylistic analysis of selected novels of Amitav Ghosh and Aravind Adiga. The study explores the stylistic features employed by these writers in order to represent social reality, cultural identity, class conflict, marginalization, and globalization. The research focuses on narrative techniques, diction, symbolism, imagery, satire, irony, code-switching, and characterization used in their novels. Amitav Ghosh’s narrative style reflects historical consciousness, multiculturalism, and intellectual depth, whereas Aravind Adiga’s style demonstrates sharp realism, satire, and socio-political criticism. Through comparative analysis, the paper highlights the similarities and differences in their stylistic approaches and examines how language becomes an important medium for social commentary. The study concludes that both writers enrich Indian English fiction through innovative stylistic experimentation and realistic representation of contemporary Indian society.
