Abstract
The Government of India announced a new
National Education Policy (NEP) in 2020, aiming at major structural reforms in
the Indian education system. This policy emphasizes access, quality, equity,
inclusiveness, and accountability in education. However, the implementation of
NEP 2020 faces several challenges and obstacles. The policy seeks to transform
the Indian education system by focusing on foundational learning, mother
tongue-based education, skill development, digital learning, multilingualism,
and teacher training. Despite this visionary outlook, its implementation is
hindered by state-level differences, lack of resources, inadequate teacher
training, rural constraints, and technological infrastructure gaps. This study
deeply analyses the formulation of the policy, implementation hurdles, and
possible solutions.
