Abstract
Tuberculosis remains a major public health
challenge in Côte d'Ivoire. The objective of this research is to analyze the
sociocultural, economic, and institutional factors that contribute to the
recurrence of tuberculosis in the Bouaké department. The research employs a
qualitative, phenomenological approach focused on data collection techniques
and tools such as direct observation, participant observation, document review,
focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and observation grids. Theories of
social representations and social behavior change were used to further analyze
the field data. The research yielded results. First, it examined socioeconomic
and institutional factors. Second, it explored the sociocultural determinants
and treatment pathways associated with the disease. Finally, in response to
this challenging situation, the research facilitated the implementation of
strategies for disease control and prevention.
