Abstract
Rabindranath Tagore, one of India's most revered polymaths, left an
indelible mark on literature, music, art, and education, earning widespread
recognition and admiration both in his homeland and abroad. His achievements
and reputation are multifaceted, reflecting his profound impact across various
domains. Tagore's literary contributions stand as the cornerstone of his
legacy. He penned a vast array of works, including poems, novels, short
stories, essays, and plays. His most notable work, "Gitanjali" (Song
Offerings), earned him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913, making him the
first non-European to receive this prestigious accolade. The lyrical beauty,
philosophical depth, and spiritual resonance of his writings continue to
captivate readers worldwide. Beyond literature, Tagore was a visionary educator
who founded the renowned institution Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan,
West Bengal. His educational philosophy emphasized the holistic development of
individuals, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and cultural
appreciation. Visva-Bharati became a center for intellectual exchange,
attracting scholars, artists, and students from across the globe. Kabuliwalah is
a renowned short story penned by the legendary Indian writer Rabindranath
Tagore was first published in 1892. It remains a classic of Indian literature,
exploring themes of friendship, nostalgia, and the human condition. The paper
explores poignant depiction of filial love and provides insightful commentary
on Indian society during Tagore's time.
