Education
is a fundamental human right and a powerful tool for personal, social, and
economic empowerment. Recognizing the crucial role of education in achieving
sustainable development, the United Nations has set forth the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), a comprehensive framework aimed at addressing global
challenges by 2030. Among these goals, gender equality and quality education
stand out as interconnected elements, emphasizing the significance of women's
education in fostering sustainable development. Women's education, often
described as a fundamental human right, transcends the realms of individual
empowerment to become a cornerstone for achieving SDG 4 (Quality Education). As
women gain access to quality learning opportunities, they enhance their
capabilities and contribute to building resilient and thriving communities.
Beyond the realms of SDG 4, the transformative ripple effect of women's
education resonates across multiple goals, echoing the interconnectedness and
synergy underlying the SDG framework.
This
paper will shed light on how education for women helps in achieving sustainable
development goals, which will further help in fostering equality, eradicating
poverty, promoting health, and advancing inclusive and sustainable development.
In essence, this paper will provide a comprehensive exploration of the
symbiotic relationship between empowering women through education and the
attainment of the SDGs. It will help the stakeholders working on SDGs and Women's
Education in policy development. It will also highlight the gains that India
has made so far.
