Abstract
This study investigates the use of palm and
banana leaves as sustainable alternatives to traditional synthetic food
packaging materials. It evaluates the mechanical properties, biodegradability,
and consumer acceptance of these naturally occurring resources. Palm and banana
leaves, commonly regarded as agricultural byproducts, offer eco-friendly
benefits due to their biodegradability and renewable nature. Through a series
of tests, this research assesses their tensile strength, moisture resistance,
and decomposition rates. Additionally, a consumer survey provides insights into
market receptivity towards these materials, focusing on aesthetic appeal and
environmental impact. The findings suggest that palm and banana leaves are
viable substitutes for conventional packaging, combining functionality with
sustainability, and could significantly reduce the environmental footprint of
the packaging industry
