Abstract
The 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) was organized sometimes ago at Glasgow in Scotland under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The primary agenda of this meeting was to focus on finalizing the rules and procedures for implementation of the Paris Agreement of 2015 which was scheduled to be completed by 2018. This Agreement did not specify emission reduction targets for any country. It distinctly specified the objective of limiting the global rise in temperature to within 2°C from pre-industrial times. The issue of carbon credits has also appeared to be a major stumbling block in the finalization of the rules and procedures of the Paris Agreement. This article tries to explore the success or failure in tackling of these issues by the Glasgow Conference and to analyse its final outcome.
