This paper introduces the concepts and arithmetic of elliptic curve cryptography. Elliptic curve cryptosystems require shorter key length then RSA cryptosystem, but provided equivalent security levels. We present different operations on EC over real and prime fields. We also report standard schemes for ECC. Comparison of ECC with RSA and its benefits for cryptography, application are also presented.
