Abstract
This study aims to analyze the social perceptions and management patterns of epilepsy in the Baoulé-Assézé-Faafouê of Kongodékro (Bouaké commune) in north-central Côte d’Ivoire. Indeed, this "humiliating" pathology is the subject of various spiritual interpretations which influence its therapeutic itinerary. It gives a central place to traditional African medicine, to which healing prayers are added. Relegated to the background, modern monitoring seems to require. The collection of data required the use of semi-directive interviews administered to seventeen people thus distributed: six patients, five of them current and one old; the parents of patients (father, mother or person in charge), a doctor of the Bouaké Psychiatric Hospital, two religious leaders, and two traditional therapists.
