Assess the attitude of first year nursing students towards nursing profession in selected nursing colleges, Nellore

The study aims are to assess the attitude of first year nursing students towards nursing profession and to associate the attitude of first year students regarding nursing profession with selected socio demographic variables. The quantitative research approach and descriptive design was adopted for the study. The study was conducted in Narayna College of Nursing and Sree Narayna Nursing College in Nellore. 30 first year B.Sc. nursing and GNM students were selected by using simple random sampling Technique. Attitude scale was used for collecting the data from samples. Data analysis done by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that out of 30 samples 21 (70%) students had positive attitude and reaming 9(30%) students are having negative attitude towards nursing profession. The study concluded that majority of first year nursing students were having positive attitude. Furthermore motivation needed to change the young minds towards caring profession.
