Awareness on misleading advertisement of higher secondary school students in Burdwan district

Abstract
False advertising or misleading advertising is the use of false or misleading statements in advertising, and misrepresentation of the product at hand, which may negatively affect many consumers. As advertising has the potential to persuade people into commercial dealings that they might otherwise avoid, many governments around the world use regulations to control false, unreliable or misleading advertising. Truth refers to essentially the same concept, that customers have the right to know what they are buying, and that all necessary information should be on the label. The present study was aims to investigate the awareness on misleading advertisement of higher secondary school students of Burdwan District. Self-made questionnaire was used to assess their awareness on misleading advertisement. The data were analyzed with the help of statistical techniques like mean, Standard deviation and t-value. The result of Analysis shows that, there exists significant difference in higher secondary school student. Urban students are more aware on misleading advertisement than rural school student in Burdwan district. Commerce students have greater awareness than Arts students in this regard.
