Problems and prospects Sarisha Grampanchayat in West Bengal

Abstract
Rural development has always been the prime focus of our government since independence. All five year plans were focused towards the special benefit of the rural community. Some of the objectives has been achieved and other have failed but the effort for further development has not ceased. India is a country of villages and farmers. Most of its population live in villages and rural areas. As the rural population is economically backward it is the duty of the educated masses especially the qualified professional in rural management to assist the villagers in their process of development so that the whole nation could achieve progress and prosperity. In this paper an attempt has been made to study one Gram Panchayat of Bengal. The main objective of this paper is to study socio-economic condition of Sarisha gram panchayat, to analyse the success of different development schemes and programes of the Panchayat,to study various management schemes taken by panchayat, to study the problems & recommend solution.
