Dielectric and Ferroelectric Properties of (Ba0.95Ca0.05) (Ti0.90Zr0.1) O3 Composition

Lead free ferroelectric composition (Ba0.95Ca0.05) (Ti0.90Zr0.1) O3 (BCTZ) is synthesized using ceramic route of synthesis. The X-ray diffraction reveals the presence of tetragonal phase. From the observations of variation of dielectric constant (ε) with temperature, it is revealed that BCTZ shows a relaxor behavior. On the other hand for BCTZ composition, the phase transition is a diffused phase transition (DPT). The BCZT composition exhibited a satisfactory dielectric constant and low dielectric loss tanδ.The investigations on the P-E hysteresis loop reveal that the composition possesses useful values of maximum polarization (Pmax) and remnant polarization (Pr). The present observations suggests that the BCTZ could be a useful Lead free ferroelectric composition.
