Author(s): Anil Kumar Agnihotri
Abstract: The present paper attempts to evaluate the level of academic achievement among Class IV Science students in four Districts of Himachal Pradesh. Academic achievement referred to the number of items of achievement test answered correctly by a student and expected performance meant hundred per cent score on the achievement test i.e. all the 40 items answered correctly by the student. The present study revealed that academic achievement of students of classes IV selected from four Districts of Himachal Pradesh, viz., Una, Hamirpur, Kangra and Bilaspur came out to be far below the expected one for each individual district as well as for the total sample. This indicates that the State of Himachal Pradesh has not been able to achieve the objective of providing elementary education of satisfactory quality even after ten years of launch of SSA as well as introducing other interventions.
